Puerto Vallarta’s allure extends beyond tourism. Home to many retired Americans and Canadians who’ve chosen to live here, either permanently or at least for a few months of the year, this Mexican Pacific Coast city is attracting a new wave of residents: digital nomads.

Travel Off Path, a website known for independent travel news, recognizes Puerto Vallarta as a prime location for these remote workers seeking a beachside lifestyle. The city offers a unique blend of historic charm and modern amenities, making digital nomads feel that it is a city where they could live, and work, happily.

Hotels cater specifically to “workcations,” with features like high-speed internet, dedicated co-working spaces and extraordinary room service. Beyond these dedicated accommodations, many resorts boast facilities for remote work, further solidifying Puerto Vallarta’s appeal.

Luis Villaseñor, director of the city’s Tourism Promotion Office, emphasizes Puerto Vallarta’s offerings beyond sun and sand. The vibrant city boasts a beautiful marina and the world-famous Malecón, both lined with art galleries, boutiques and restaurants, as well as various entertainment options like cabarets, cinemas and yoga studios.
