Puerto Vallarta International Airport continues to solidify its position as a premier travel destination, with November 2024 marking a significant milestone. While the airport experienced a modest 0.1% increase in passenger traffic compared to the same month last year, it remains on track to set a new annual record.
This achievement is part of a broader trend across Mexico’s Pacific coast. Grupo Aeroportuario del Pacífico (GAP) airports, including those in Tijuana, Guadalajara, Los Cabos, and Puerto Vallarta, collectively reported a 2.5% increase in passenger traffic in November 2024 compared to the same period last year.
Puerto Vallarta Airport specifically welcomed 592,000 passengers in November, a slight uptick from the previous year. The airport’s year-to-date passenger count has reached 6.118 million, just 0.5% ahead of 2023. This growth trajectory positions the airport to surpass last year’s record, albeit by a narrow margin.
Domestic travel to Puerto Vallarta saw a notable 9.2% increase in November 2024, with 240,200 passengers arriving. However, the year-to-date domestic passenger count is slightly down 1.4% compared to 2023.
International travel to Puerto Vallarta, while experiencing a 5.3% decrease in November 2024, remains strong year-to-date. With 3.524 million international passengers in the first 11 months of 2024, the airport is poised to exceed last year’s international passenger total by 1.9%.
Despite a slight decrease in seat capacity, the airport’s load factor increased from 82.8% in Nov. 2023 to 85.2% in Nov. 2024, indicating strong demand for travel to Puerto Vallarta.
As the year draws to a close, Puerto Vallarta International Airport continues to attract visitors from around the world, contributing to the region’s economic growth and reinforcing its status as a popular travel destination.
