Puerto Vallarta Launches International Poetry Fest

Puerto Vallarta, Mexico – Celebrate the power of words and cultural exchange this June with the debut of the International Poetry Festival of Puerto Vallarta, a weeklong event that will bring poets, workshops, performances, and literary activities to audiences across the city.

Scheduled for June 15-21, the festival aims to promote local literature, encourage international cultural dialogue, and make poetry more accessible to the public through a variety of free events. The inaugural edition will feature 33 poets from Puerto Vallarta alongside guests representing ten countries, creating a diverse program that highlights voices from Mexico and around the world.

Among the distinguished participants are acclaimed Mexican poets Mario Bojórquez, Ricardo Castillo, and honored guest Luis Armenta Malpica, whose contributions to contemporary poetry have earned national recognition.

During the festival’s presentation, Councilwoman Laurel Carrillo Ventura, president of the City Council’s Commission on Culture and Cultural Rights, and Alejandra Cornejo, director of Economic Promotion and Tourism, highlighted the support provided by the Municipal Government led by Mayor Luis Munguía.

Festival director Raúl Gibran said the event is designed to take poetry beyond traditional venues by bringing readings, workshops, lectures, and performances to various locations throughout the municipality. He also expressed immense gratitude to the municipal administration, the Vallarta Institute of Culture, and the Directorate of Economic Development and Tourism for helping make the project a reality.

The program includes a variety of activities intended to engage audiences of all ages and interests. Highlights include a Chinese calligraphy workshop led by artists from Taiwan, creative writing sessions, workshops for children, an open microphone event, and poetry presentations accompanied by live music.

The festival will officially open on June 15 at 7:00 pm at Los Arcos del Malecón. Admission is free, offering residents and visitors an opportunity to experience an international celebration of literature in one of Puerto Vallarta’s most iconic public spaces.

Organizers encourage the public to follow the Festival Internacional de Poesía de Puerto Vallarta on social media for the complete schedule and updates on events taking place throughout the week. The festival is expected to strengthen Puerto Vallarta’s cultural offerings while creating new opportunities for artistic exchange and community participation.
