Hotel occupancy is expected to soar above 70%, with a vibrant mix of national and international tourists. Luis Villaseñor Nolasco, the director of the city’s Tourism Trust, shared this optimistic forecast, highlighting the significant influx of visitors from regions experiencing rising temperatures.
Villaseñor Nolasco expressed confidence in surpassing last year’s hotel occupancy rates. To achieve this, the Tourism Trust has actively participated in major regional sales exhibitions in cities like Guadalajara, León, Aguascalientes, Chihuahua, and Monterrey, encouraging residents to choose Puerto Vallarta for their summer getaways.
“Puerto Vallarta offers a safe, clean environment with a wide range of activities and lodging options to fit any budget,” he emphasized. While national tourism will dominate, a notable number of visitors from California, Arizona, and Texas are also expected to escape their hotter climates and enjoy Puerto Vallarta’s charm.
Enhanced connectivity from Mexico City, Tijuana, and Monterrey will make it even easier for tourists from these metropolitan areas to reach Puerto Vallarta. Additionally, the city anticipates an increase in road tourism, especially from nearby destinations.
Villaseñor Nolasco pointed out that family vacations with shorter booking windows are becoming more common. The new Guadalajara-Puerto Vallarta highway, which offers a convenient two-and-a-half-hour drive, has significantly boosted last-minute bookings. This flexibility helps increase occupancy rates, a feat not as easily achieved by destinations like Cancún or Los Cabos, where most tourists arrive by air and plan their vacations well in advance.
With these positive trends and improvements, Puerto Vallarta is gearing up for a bustling and successful summer season, welcoming travelers from near and far to its beautiful shores.
