Puerto Vallarta’s commitment to excellence in tourism and hospitality has once again been recognized on a national stage. The coastal destination has secured two nominations in the highly regarded Food and Travel Reader Awards, celebrating the finest in Mexican gastronomy and service. These nominations reinforce the city’s standing as a premier spot for wellness, adventure, and sustainable travel.
The Food and Travel Reader Awards have a ten-year history of honoring the creativity, passion, and top-tier quality of Mexico’s hospitality professionals. This year’s nominees were carefully selected by a committee of 48 experts in tourism and gastronomy, alongside the editorial board of Food and Travel Mexico magazine, across 32 categories.
The nominations for Puerto Vallarta showcase the range and quality of its offerings.

First, the Maiavé Spa, nestled within the Sheraton Buganvilias Resort & Convention Center, is a contender for Best Spa in Mexico. This recently refreshed facility has set a new standard for relaxation, embracing a holistic approach to wellness. It boasts premium amenities, a full hydrotherapy circuit, and personal services, all within a tranquil setting designed to refresh and calm the senses.

In the category of Best Sustainable Tourism Proposal, the ecotourism destination Canopy River Park has earned a nomination. Located in the El Jorullo Ejido, the park offers thrilling experiences like zip lines, rappelling, ATV tours, hiking, and excursions to local rivers and waterfalls.
The park is also home to the monumental Jorullo Bridge, the longest vehicular suspension bridge in the world, and Jorullo Point, a panoramic 360-degree viewpoint high in the Sierra Madre Mountains. Beyond the stunning landscapes and incredible activities, the project is distinguished by its deep commitment to the environment and its community, focusing on employing and training local residents.
Adding to the regional pride, the state of Jalisco, which includes Puerto Vallarta, is also competing for Best Destination in Mexico, reflecting a wider national appreciation for the region’s strong tourism and culinary impact.
The Puerto Vallarta Tourism Trust encourages everyone to support the nominees by casting votes for Maiavé Spa, Canopy River Park, and the state of Jalisco on the Food and Travel Mexico website. Voting is open until January 30, 2026. The winners will be revealed at an awards ceremony scheduled for March 2026.
