Puerto Vallarta Promotes Cruise Tourism at Miami Industry Event

Puerto Vallarta is taking part in Seatrade Cruise Global, the world’s largest cruise industry event, which began on April 7 and continues through the 10th, in Miami, Florida. Celebrating its 40th anniversary this year, the event brings together cruise lines, ports, and tourism leaders from around the globe.

Representatives from Puerto Vallarta’s Tourism Trust and the National Port System Administration (ASIPONA) are attending, including Tourism Trust Director Luis Antonio Villaseñor Nolasco. Their mission is clear — to promote Puerto Vallarta as a top cruise destination and attract more ships to the region.

The team is highlighting Puerto Vallarta’s many strengths, including its location on the Mexican Pacific Riviera, wide range of tourist attractions, and capacity to handle growing cruise traffic. The goal is to increase both the number of cruise ships arriving and the frequency of visits in the coming years.

Puerto Vallarta is also joining forces with other Mexican ports like Yucatán and Puerto Chiapas, as well as the company MPS, which specializes in vessel waste management — a key concern for modern cruise operations.

Seatrade Cruise Global offers a valuable opportunity for the Puerto Vallarta delegation to connect directly with cruise line executives, tour operators, and industry experts. This year’s event will welcome nearly 11,000 attendees, over 600 exhibitors from more than 120 countries, and more than 70 cruise line brands.

Arturo Musi Ganem, president of the Mexican Cruise Association, is also attending. He said the recently announced cruise passenger tax in Mexico will likely be a topic of conversation. However, new agreements between the Mexican government and cruise companies could ease concerns. The proposal includes a reduced tax rate and a gradual increase starting in 2026, provided cruise lines boost their partnerships with Mexican suppliers and promote Mexican destinations.

With growing interest from cruise lines and valuable networking opportunities at this year’s Seatrade Cruise Global event, Puerto Vallarta is positioning itself to welcome even more visitors by sea in the near future.
