Puerto Vallarta Revitalizes Local Sports Courts and Playgrounds

Puerto Vallarta, México – Community sports in Puerto Vallarta are entering a bright new chapter as the Municipal Sports Council (COMUDE) accelerates its comprehensive rehabilitation program. Under the direction of Mayor Luis Munguía, the city is transforming local courts into modern hubs for fitness and social connection, ensuring that residents of all ages have access to top-tier recreational spaces.

The initiative focuses on creating a safer and more welcoming environment for families, children, and teenagers. By prioritizing structural repairs and professional-grade painting, the program has already revitalized several key locations, including the courts in La Aurora, Palmar de Aramara, and Garza Blanca (Infonavit). These improvements do more than just update the appearance of the facilities; they restore a sense of pride and ownership within the neighborhoods.

Beyond the physical surface repairs, a major highlight of this project is the significant upgrade to public lighting. Many of the renovated spaces, such as those at the Teresa Barba Palomera School and La Moderna, now feature enhanced illumination systems. This development is particularly impactful for the local community, as it extends the usable hours of the courts well into the evening, allowing students and working professionals to engage in physical activity long after the sun goes down.

COMUDE Director William Arredondo emphasized that these efforts are central to promoting public health and well-being across the city. By recovering these spaces, the administration aims to foster a culture of wellness where the people of Vallarta can gather, exercise, and build stronger community ties. As the work progresses into more neighborhoods, these courts are quickly becoming the primary meeting points for local sports leagues and casual recreation alike.

This wave of improvements aligns perfectly with the city’s upcoming schedule of March events, providing fresh venues for the community to gather as the spring season begins.
