Puerto Vallarta Sees Only Five Cruise Ship Arrivals in July 2024

Puerto Vallarta, Mexico – After being one of the top five busiest cruise ports in Mexico during the first four months of 2024, Puerto Vallarta anticipates only five cruise ship arrivals in July.

By April, 81 cruise ships had already visited Puerto Vallarta. The port saw 10 arrivals in May, but June marked the beginning of the low season, with only four large cruise ships and the Amerigo Vespucci docking in our port.

According to the National Port System Administration (ASIPONA) in Puerto Vallarta, the cruise ships this month are scheduled to arrive on the 4th, 16th, 23rd, and 30th. All but one of these arrivals will be from the ever-popular Carnival Panorama. The 16th will see a double arrival, with the Navigator of the Seas joining the Panorama. This will be the only instance of multiple large cruise ships docking in July.

There are just over four months of low season for Puerto Vallarta, when the cruise lines that normally visit the Mexican Riviera change their itineraries to other popular cruise markets, like Alaska and Central & South America.

In low season, the main destinations on the Mexican Pacific are Ensenada, Baja California, and Los Cabos, Baja California Sur, due to shorter journeys and their proximity to the United States, which keeps them busy with tourists from that country.

The ‘high season’ for Puerto Vallarta cruise tourism is expected to restart in October with more ships arriving in addition to the weekly arrival of the Carnival Panorama, which will continue throughout the summer.
