Puerto Vallarta Sees Surge in Traveler Interest from the US

According to the Amadeus system, which tracks air travel trends and patterns, interest in traveling to Puerto Vallarta from the United States is on the rise.

Amadeus analyzes search activity data from major travel agencies and search engines, providing a comprehensive view of traveler intentions. This data shows a 25% year-over-year increase in flight searches to Puerto Vallarta from the US for June 2024, placing it among Mexico’s top 5 most sought-after destinations this month.

Air capacity from the United States to Puerto Vallarta has also risen compared to 2023. By June, there was a 7.2% increase in total scheduled air seat capacity, with 1.69 million seats available – a number projected to rise throughout the year. This increase is particularly notable in markets like Denver, Houston, Phoenix, Seattle, and Salt Lake City.

Amadeus metrics highlight the main cities where reservations are made through travel agents: Los Angeles, San Francisco, Dallas, Denver, Salt Lake City, Seattle, Houston, Phoenix, Atlanta, Chicago, New York, and San Jose, California. The average stay for visitors is over four nights, indicating a strong desire for international travel to Puerto Vallarta.

In June, the top cities showing the most interest in traveling to Puerto Vallarta include Los Angeles, San Francisco, Chicago, New York, Dallas, Denver, Houston, Seattle, Washington DC, and San Jose, California.

Luis Villaseñor, director of the Puerto Vallarta Tourism Trust, said: “By capitalizing on growing interest from diverse markets and adapting to changes in travel patterns, the city can further solidify its position as a top destination. With strategic promotion, advertising, and public relations efforts, along with strong collaboration with the tourism sector to enhance visitor experiences, Puerto Vallarta is well-positioned to maintain its positive momentum.”
