Puerto Vallarta Shines as a Safe Haven in Mexico

Puerto Vallarta continues to be a beacon of security, ranking #7 among the top 10 safest cities nationwide and securing the number one spot within Jalisco according to the latest National Urban Public Safety Survey (ENSU) by INEGI. This citizen perception survey, conducted in the first quarter of 2024, reveals a strong sense of safety among Vallarta residents over 18.

This impressive safety record is particularly significant for a major tourist destination like Puerto Vallarta. The city, renowned for its pristine beaches, vibrant nightlife, and rich culture, welcomes thousands of visitors each year. The INEGI survey suggests “safety” can now be confidently added to the list of reasons to choose Puerto Vallarta for an unforgettable vacation.

The survey results indicate a positive trend, with the perception of insecurity in Puerto Vallarta decreasing to 25.1% compared to 26.5% a year ago. This is a stark contrast to the situation in the greater Guadalajara metropolitan area, where municipalities like Zapopan (60.3%), Tlaquepaque (68.7%), Tonalá (70.4%), Tlajomulco (72.7%), and Guadalajara itself (77.1%) report significantly higher insecurity perceptions.

Puerto Vallarta’s commitment to safety continues to position it as a premier destination in Mexico, offering peace of mind alongside its world-class attractions. Here’s the complete ranking of the 10 cities with the lowest perception of insecurity in Mexico:
