Puerto Vallarta, Jalisco, Mexico – Puerto Vallarta’s municipal government is set to announce major improvements in garbage collection logistics by mid-March. The initiative, led by the director of Efficient Municipal Services, Javier Alonso Navarro Chávez, aims to enhance efficiency and address ongoing collection concerns.
Navarro Chávez explained that the city is working closely with the garbage collection concessionaire to refine daily operations. “We analyze and adjust our strategies every day,” he said. “Through technical, logistical, and communication exercises, we have identified many areas for improvement. Public feedback has played a key role in shaping these changes. Some reports have accumulated, but we are actively addressing them.”

One of the key updates includes a shift to house-by-house collection in accessible neighborhoods, eliminating unsightly piles of trash on street corners. Navarro Chávez emphasized the importance of community participation in ensuring a cleaner city. “Puerto Vallarta is growing rapidly, and our services must evolve accordingly. Residents and business owners can contribute by knowing their collection schedules and placing garbage in front of their homes. In areas with difficult access, alternative collection methods will be applied,” he noted.
An information campaign will launch soon to keep the public informed about the new logistics. With these improvements, Puerto Vallarta aims to streamline garbage collection and maintain a cleaner, more organized city for residents and visitors alike.
