Vallarta to Participate in New York City Pride Parade

Puerto Vallarta, Mexico – In a strategic alliance, Vallarta Pride announced a collaboration with NYC Pride, one of the world’s largest LGBTQ+ pride events. This partnership aims to boost tourism and economic development in Puerto Vallarta by attracting visitors from the important New York market, which has a direct flight connection.

The agreement was announced at a press conference attended by city officials and representatives from both Pride organizations. Christian Preciado Cázares, Director of Tourism and Economic Development, explained that the collaboration will create synergy between the two events, generating significant tourist and economic benefits for Puerto Vallarta.

Luis Villaseñor Nolasco, Director of the Puerto Vallarta Tourism Trust, credited the collaboration to combined efforts. These included collaborations with wholesalers, events like the Gala Vallarta-Riviera Nayarit, and the work of Miguel Heredia, representing the Mexican Consulate in New York. He also commended Javier Jiménez, Director of Vallarta Pride, for his role in the local festival’s continued success.

As a result of the alliance, Puerto Vallarta will be the sole Mexican or Latin American participant in the NYC Pride parade on June 30th. Puerto Vallarta will have one of the 55 floats in the parade, which attracts over 75,000 participants and 2.5 million tourists worldwide.

NYC Pride’s Director of Operations, Joshua Woods, highlighted Puerto Vallarta’s significance for the organization. He mentioned his personal connection to PV and expressed his desire to get married here in September. Woods emphasized the alliance’s focus on sharing best practices and supporting social causes.

Javier Jiménez expressed his gratitude for the opportunity to participate in one of the world’s leading Pride events. He credited the City Council, Tourism Trust, and the Mexican Consulate in New York for their support.

Mexican Consul Miguel Heredia praised Puerto Vallarta’s welcoming environment for the LGBTQ+ community. He emphasized the importance of showcasing the city at NYC Pride, not just for tourism but also for fostering collaboration and potentially involving NYC Pride in future Puerto Vallarta celebrations.

Discussions regarding potential twinning of the two events have already begun. These discussions involved Joshua Woods, Miguel Heredia, and interim mayor Francisco José Martínez Gil.
