Hola, Amigas y Amigos!
Today I want to tell you about some of my pet peeves because I know you want to know about them. Right? Sure. I will list them in no particular order.
• Drinking Water: Puerto Vallarta is known for its excellent water-filtration system. I have been drinking water straight from the tap here for more than 13 years. I have never had the slightest tummy ache or related problem from drinking the water.
(On a side note, one of the Sex and the City movies (stupid though they all were) had a scene where Charlotte simply opened her mouth in the shower and swallowed some water in a luxury hotel in Mexico – where they have additional water-filtration systems – and got a terrible bout of diarrhea. I hate these stereotypes. That’s my punishment for watching those stupid, vapid movies in the first place! La culpa es mia.)
But even some locals avoid tap water. One day I was at the gym and was filling a bottle with tap water, and a Mexican girl ran up to me and said, “No, Señora, you will get sick!” Clearly, I have thought about this way too much, I didn’t get sick then, before, now – or ever, from the water her in Vallarta.
• Safety in Mexico: I realize there are areas in Mexico – as well as many other countries – which are dangerous. Obviously. But here in Puerto Vallarta, I have walked alone at night many times in many places which are safe. I once lived in a place called Happy Valley, Oregon, at one time, and the mall across from my place – where I wnet to the movies regularly – was shot up by a random murderer, killing several people and injuring a lot more before his gun jammed. Around that same time, the Sandy Hook school massacre occurred. And since that time there have been multiple mass shootings in the United States. I don’t even want to try to count them.
• The words “Lazy Mexican:” Terrible generalization. I know many Mexicans who work two or three jobs. And I know US Anericans who do nothing but complain about misinformation they read online as though that is their job. And a few who have high-level jobs destroying the US. I will not name names.
My last pet peeve for today is Cleaning out the Fridge:
When green things turn brown, throw them out. And when brown things turn green, throw them out, too.
Sometimes, though, I can’t tell the difference. So I am going to go out for dinner now. I think that’s the safest thing…

Adiós, Vallarta! ¡Te amo muchisisimo!
