PuRR Project Puerto Vallarta November 2026 News

Puerto Vallarta, Mexico – The latest news from PuRR Project, a non-profit, no-kill feline shelter just north of Puerto Vallarta that provides homeless cats and kittens a recuperative stay with the ultimate goal of adopting them out to loving homes sterilized, vaccinated and disease free.

SHELTER UPDATE

It was a nerve wracking month with five hurricanes back to back: Polo, Rachel, Simon, Trudy and Vance. Fortunately, only Polo caused the terrible flooding at the shelter. With help from our many supporters and the community, the shelter is in good shape now though still overcrowded in the casitas. But they are clean and we’ll be installing the new cat trees soon. A new dryer was installed and the almost new washing machine was repaired. A truckload of flood debris was hauled away.

UPCOMING EVENTS

SATURDAY MARKET: Please come see us at out usual spot just outside Daiquiri Dick’s on Saturdays from 10:00 to 1:00, starting November 7th. We look forward to seeing old friends and making new ones. We will have our beautiful logo T-shirts, caps, drink holders, cat dish towels and of course the 2027 PuRR Calendar!

KITTY BINGO: We are SO excited to start this season of Kitty BINGO on Wednesday, November 11th at Nacho Daddy! Cards go on sale at 3:30 for only $200 pesos for all eight games. Plus we will have the 50/50 Raffle. Games start at 4:00 so grab a friend and come join us while winning great prizes and supporting the many cats and kittens at the shelter!

GARAGE SALE: The date is set for Saturday, December 5. We’re now collecting donated items at Gaviotas 143, Marina Vallarta or email us at donate(at)purrproject.com if you need items picked up. Remember, ones man’s trash is another man’s treasure so start getting rid of that “stuff” you no longer need!

ADOPTIONS

In October we took in 26 kittens left at the shelter. It was unfortunate that there were hurricane warnings every weekend! That really hurt us at PetCo as we only had three adoptions there. We also had one at the shelter and two by a foster. We’re hoping that November and December will be much better, so please consider us if you are looking for a new Furry Family member.

FEATURED FELINE: WALLABY

Wallaby and her siblings Waffles & Whiskey were left at the shelter gate in June of 2025. Her sister and brother were adopted (Waffles graces our 2027 Calendar cover!) but Wallaby is still living in our “teenage” casita where she loves attention from visitors. She’s about 20 months old and would be a great furry companion for someone who prefers an older kitty. Get more info at adopt(at)purrproject.com.

GRACIAS! THANKS! MERCI! DANKE! ARIGATO!

There’re SO many people to thank that it’s impossible to name them all! After the flood, we had dozens of donations to the GO FUND ME organized by Renee Stoles & Susan McKenna, many supporters sent PayPal donations, others bought the weekly shelter supplies or donated cat trees & towels. We are so grateful to all of you!

As always, we are thankful for those monthly donors who are so essential to our success: The McCullough Family Gift Fund, Gary Phillips, Sharon & Ken Rose, Terri & Gray Levy, Joanne Bryla, Trisha Aljoe, Pat & Sandy Glenn, Catherine Goglia & Jim Shoemaker, Karen & Walt Trolson, Robert Weed, Jerry Petrizzo, Heidi Benedict, Timothy Oleno, Larry Sherwood, Mary & Bob Fitzgerald, David Flannery, Elizabeth Fuerherm, Janice North, Katie Hannasch, Gayle Sommers and Scott Hagler, Annie Dodge & John Ryan.
