The dedicated staff, bolstered by invaluable support from DIF and a growing network of volunteers, expertly manages the unique needs of each child. These combined efforts ensure a nurturing and joyful environment for everyone at RISE.
Even with the challenges of a growing family, the children are flourishing. After a refreshing holiday break, they’ve returned to school, diligently pursuing their studies while still finding time for fun. Recent adventures include a captivating trip to the Jardin Magico Butterfly Sanctuary with veteran volunteer Karen Cruz, and an awe-inspiring whale-watching tour courtesy of Vallarta Adventures. The children were also treated to a magical performance by Uncle Ken the Magician, and continue to benefit from weekly art, yoga, martial arts, and other enriching activities provided by generous volunteers.

R.I.S.E. (Refugio Infantil Santa Esperanza) is a privately funded, 50-bed children’s shelter in Puerto Vallarta, providing a loving environment for children who are “at risk” at home or have no home. These resilient children range in age from 18 months to mid-teens. For over 20 years RISE has operated with a combination of a great staff and a team of volunteers that keep RISE running.
