uerto Vallarta will host the Medio Maratón Turístico 21K this Sunday, February 15, bringing athletes of all ages and skill levels to the city’s main tourist corridor. Municipal officials have announced partial road closures to ensure the event runs safely and smoothly.
The race day begins early at the Agustín Flores Contreras Stadium. The Elite 21K category will start at 5:40 am, followed by the general 21K field at 7:00 am. The 5K recreational race begins at 7:15 am, and the morning concludes with a 3K family fun walk at 7:35 am, open to participants of all ages.
The 21-kilometer route will head north along the central lanes of Francisco Medina Ascencio Avenue toward Marina Vallarta. Runners will turn around near the La Europea wine shop before returning to the stadium’s athletics track for the finish.
To provide a secure environment for the hundreds of expected participants, the central lanes of Francisco Medina Ascencio Boulevard will be closed from 2:00 am to 11:00 am along the race route. Side lanes in both directions will remain open as alternative routes for drivers.
Authorities encourage motorists to plan ahead, leave early, and consider alternate routes, particularly if traveling to or from the northern hotel zone, Marina Vallarta, or the airport on Sunday morning.
City officials expressed appreciation for the community’s cooperation as Puerto Vallarta welcomes this major sporting event, which showcases the city’s scenic coastal setting while promoting health, sports, and community participation.
