Ruta Mushi’s December Exhibit: Pilgrimages & Parish History

Puerto Vallarta, Mexico – Step aboard Ruta Mushi, the mobile museum showcasing Puerto Vallarta’s rich history, and immerse yourself in the vibrant tapestry of faith this December. The museum’s newest exhibit, “The Churches and Pilgrimages,” takes visitors on a journey through the city’s religious heritage, highlighting its three iconic Catholic churches: Nuestra Señora de Guadalupe, Parroquia Nuestra Señora del Refugio, and Iglesia de la Santa Cruz.

Inaugurated in June 2023, Ruta Mushi is a converted school bus transformed into a captivating museum on wheels. This initiative by the Asociación Civil Museo de Historia Puerto Vallarta, a non-profit dedicated to preserving the city’s cultural heritage, brings history alive through captivating photographs, objects, and documents.

Each month, the mobile museum focuses on a new theme, enriching the knowledge of locals and tourists alike. This December, with the holiday spirit in the air, the exhibit delves into the city’s cherished pilgrimages and the stories surrounding its Catholic landmarks.

“Discover tales of the Cerro de La Cruz, now known as the Mirador de La Cruz,” invites Karla Valeria Moreno Briones, the museum’s director. “Learn about the history of pilgrimages and the priests who built our parish. Explore our customs, both past and present, through captivating photographs and objects. And, since Our Lady of Guadalupe is our patron saint, you can learn about our Guadalupano spirit through artifacts from the dancers.”

The exhibit is open throughout December, offering free entry with the option to donate for continued preservation. Information presented is drawn from the works of renowned city chroniclers, including Carlos Munguía, Catalina Montes de Oca, and Mrs. Josefina Cortés de Torres.
