September is Virtual Adoption Month at PuRR Project

Puerto Vallarta, Mexico – The latest news from PuRR Project, a non-profit, no-kill feline shelter just north of Puerto Vallarta that provides homeless cats and kittens a recuperative stay with the ultimate goal of adopting them out to loving homes sterilized, vaccinated and disease free.

SEPTEMBER IS VIRTUAL ADOPTION MONTH

September is the month we celebrate our Virtual Adoption cats! These are usually older cats that have little hope of finding a Forever Home. Many are very people-friendly and would make great companions. Others are feral or have a disability such as one eye or deafness.

YOU can “Virtually Adopt” one of these felines for yourself, or as a gift to a feline-loving friend, for only $120 USD a year and help us continue to give these adult cats a safe home and medical care for life. You can learn how to virtually adopt and also meet all the candidates by visiting our website or writing us at adopt(at)purrproject.com.

Last month, Connie Argus made a special trip to the shelter and picked out TWO cats for her and Thomas to sponsor this year! She chose beautiful Isabel, who is also on our website. Then she picked a calico she named “Notch” because of her ear that was notched when she was spayed. Thank You to all the people who renewed their Virtual Adoptions this year!

SHELTER UPDATE

August was another blazing hot & humid month for our volunteers, staff, vets… and cats! Thankfully we had some rain but no big storms to cause damage to the shelter. We had 28 kittens and 2 adult cats abandoned at the shelter… almost one for every day of the month! We only had nine adoptions, two at Petco and two at the shelter, so we now have around 76 kittens that still need a Forever Home.

We are still dealing with a very full shelter! Your donations are providing all the food, medicines, cleaning supplies and salaries needed to keep the shelter running. Every little bit helps and you can go to our website to see the different ways to donate.

ADOPTION UPDATE: VALIENTE

Last month we chose Valiente as our Featured Feline. Now we are thrilled to report that “The Brave One” has found his Forever Home! We decided to give him a chance at PetCo one weekend, even though he was not the little kitten that most people seem to prefer to adopt and had a small deformity in his lower jaw. Gabriel Morales and her family only saw a purr-fect kitty that was eager to give them lots of love!

GRACIAS! THANKS! MERCI! DANKE! ARIGATO!

We send a special thanks to Cherri Gillmore for another very generous donation last month! And we’re always grateful to our regular donors who we could not continue without: Gary Phillips, McCullough Charitable Trust, Sharon & Ken Rose, Joanne Bryla, Trisha Aljoe, Catherine Goglia & Jim Shoemaker, Pat & Sandy Glenn, Heidi Benedict, Robert Weed, Larry Sherwood, Timothy Oleno, Mary & Bob Fitzgerald, Janice North and Elizabeth Fuerherm.
