San Pancho, Nayarit, Mexico – Entreamigos began in 2006 on a kitchen table in the middle of a San Pancho street. Today, housed in a giant warehouse recognized as a model sustainable facility, it is an active community center with classes and workshops, a scholarship program, a bilingual library for children and adults, a computer center, an extensive recycling program, a gift store and the Recicla thrift shop.
Here’s the latest news from Entreamigos:
Environmental Education for Everyone
Last month we had a special training for environmental educators and organizations given by Indira Santos and Nicole Swedlow using materials and programs that they created at Entreamigos. We were accompanied by six organizations (Sierra Verde, Grupo Ecológico de la Costa Verde, Fundación Punta de Mita, BlueMX, Alianza Jaguar and Entreamigos) and more than 18 people with a strong environmental commitment participated. We learned about their experiences, exchanged knowledge and, above all, played with teaching materials and tools for great reflection. We built a collaborative network to continue building together actions and campaigns to care for our communities and their cultural and natural resources.
Holiday Baskets
This season, we’re on a mission to fill the tables of those in need with delicious holiday cheer. You can help support a local family by ordering a festive holiday basket filled to the brim with nourishing food. Each basket brings warmth and sustenance to those who deserve a hearty meal. Together, let’s make sure no one goes hungry this holiday season. It’s not just a meal – it’s an act of love. Your generous donation will directly contribute to creating these baskets. Please click on the link below, or use the QR code in the flyer, to offer a donation. If you will be in San Pancho on December 23rd and would like to help put the food baskets together, we’d love some help! Just send us an email at info(at)entreamigos.org.
Community Holiday Party
Get ready for some festive fun, delicious food, and heartwarming traditions!! Let’s come together as a community to celebrate the holiday season with joy, laughter, and of course, piñatas. It will be a posada packed with excitement on Wednesday, December 18th at 4pm.
We’ll have piñatas to add a dash of thrill, Santa Claus spreading the holiday cheer, and even an art activity to bring out everyone’s creative side. It’s going to be a jolly good time, full of festive vibes and community spirit. Additionally, there will be a special presentation by the town’s gymnastics troup: La Gimnasia de Luz. Bring your friends, family, and holiday spirit as we come together for a magical afternoon of joy, laughter, and community love. See you there!
Bringing Students Together
We are thrilled to have received over 60 young students at the end of November at Entreamigos in the first-ever event introducing our scholarship students to the scholarship students through Compass, a program with the Fundación de Punta de Mita. The students had a full day getting to know each other by expressing their experiencing in their respective communities and through educational games and activities that challenged them to work together and use their creative thinking. A huge thank you to Fundación Punta de Mita for their proposal and funding for this special event. We look forward to the next encounter.
