Puerto Vallarta, Mexico – Last week’s online variety show presented by The Palm Cabaret was such a success that they’ve decided to live stream one of the venue’s most popular shows, ‘Let’s Go Crazy,’ this Friday, February 5th at 8:00 pm CST. Watch it live on The Palm’s Facebook page.
Before the state government shut down all live entertainment venues in Jalisco on January 16, Tonny Kenneth’s tribute to Prince thrilled audiences at The Palm Cabaret every Friday night at 9:30 pm.
For those who decided not to travel to this year, or those of you who are in Puerto Vallarta but haven’t yet seen it, this is a great opportunity to experience this spectacular show from the comfort of your own home.
SHOW DESCRIPTION
Let’s Go Crazy is a show dedicated to the iconic and multi-talented Prince. Tonny will take you on a journey of discovery and fun, interpreting the songs you know and love with costume changes, stunning visuals and video clips.
Prince’s music was always infused with meaning and expressed the things he was going through in life. Despite his androgynous look and manner, he was deeply religious. His song Purple Rain pertains to the end of the world and being with the one you love and letting your faith “guide you through the purple rain.”
Little Red Corvette uses cars as a metaphor for the emotional dangers of promiscuous sex and sexual insincerity. With lines like “I guess I should’ve known by the way you parked your car sideways / That it wouldn’t last”. The red Corvette is about how fast this woman leaves men after she has slept with them, and urges her to slow down and to “move over, baby, gimme the keys / I’m gonna try and tame your little red love machine.” Again, a moral message based on his strong faith.
Prince’s Let’s Go Crazy may be his most emphatic exhortation to follow Christian ethics as he became more deeply involved with the Jehovah’s Witness denomination. Lyrics such as: “Things are much harder than in the after world in this life… And if the elevator (the devil) tries to bring you down… Go crazy, punch a higher floor (to heaven).
Be sure to catch Tonny Kenneth’s tribute to Prince live on The Palm’s Facebook page, this Friday, February 5 at 8 pm CST. As you enjoy Tonny’s show, listen for the themes and metaphors in the lyrics and come to a deeper appreciation of Prince’s work.
