Puerto Vallarta, Mexico – On Tuesday, Puerto Vallarta Mayor Arturo Dávalos Peña, accompanied by the director of the Municipal Sports Council (Comude), José Amador Hernández Madrigal, and the director of Social Communication, Sara María Chávez Medina, visited the Agustín Flores Contreras Municipal Sports Stadium to check out the recently rehabilitated Athletics Track, which, after the maintenance work it has received over the last two months, is once again in optimal condition.
About 1 million pesos were invested in the rehabilitation of the athletics track, which is part of the 25 priority works approved in August by the Municipal Development Participation and Planning Council (Copplademun) and financed by federal resources from the Municipal Social Infrastructure Contribution Fund (FAIS).
The Mayor recalled that in addition to the necessary maintenance of the stadium’s tartan track, the Municipal Government is also working on the refurbishment of the racquetball courts, with an investment of just over 3.3 million pesos.
Work is also underway on putting a roof over the basketball court located on Brasilia street, with an investment of more than 1 million 213 thousand pesos, and it is planned to roof the remaining three, as well as the three volleyball courts, “so that even in the rainy season, or when there is a lot of sun, people can still get some exercise by playing sports on these courts,” Dávalos said.
He added that during his time in office, he has been betting on sports and will continue investing in sports infrastructure as never before. “We continue working to create more and better sports spaces for our children and young people, for all people who wish to practice some physical activity, and thus continue advancing towards el Puerto que Queremos (the Port We all Want).”
