Puerto Vallarta, Mexico – A recent study by Allianz Partners indicates that Mexico is once again a top summer travel destination for US tourists. Cancun, Los Cabos and Puerto Vallarta ranked first, second and seventh respectively on a list of preferred international destinations.
This surge in travel enthusiasm is exemplified by a 15% increase in planned international travel by US tourists compared to last year. Travellers are also expected to spend more, with an average household budget of $2,843 and a projected total spending of $221 billion across all destinations – exceeding pre-pandemic levels.
Mexico’s dominance is underscored by being the only country with multiple cities on the list. This highlights the strength and variety of tourism offerings in Mexico. Other popular destinations include Oranjestad, London, Punta Cana, Montego Bay, Providenciales, Paris and Nassau.
“The enthusiasm for traveling continues to grow and, as summer approaches, we invite everyone to travel safely. With travel assistance, they can enjoy their vacation with complete confidence that, in the event of an unforeseen event such as an accident, illness or loss of luggage, they have someone who will help them resolve the situation,” explained Joana del Toro, deputy director of Allianz Travel.
The study by Allianz Partners analyzed over 6 million U.S. flight itineraries for this summer season, from May 24 to September 3, with trips ranging from five to eight days.
