Vallarta Hotel Occupancy Exceeded 95% Over Long Weekend

Puerto Vallarta, Mexico – From March 18 through 21, the second long weekend of the year, Puerto Vallarta hotels registered an average occupancy of over 95%. The tourism sector considers this a positive sign that the rhythm will be maintained during the Semana Santa and Pascua (Holy Week and Easter Week) vacation period.

Last week, The Director of Beach Tourism, Jorge Quintero Alvarado, said that after two years of low hotel occupancy, the city expects that they will be close to full for the Easter holidays. He commented that the national market will be predominant, but the international market will add to the mix.

“We just had an exceptional long weekend in terms of tourism. The average hotel occupancy in Puerto Vallarta exceeded 95%, a figure that represents a huge improvement compared to the previous two years, when the pandemic did not allow the arrival of so many visitors,” he said.

In preparation of the three-day holiday weekend, the city launched a campaign to promote security measures on the region’s beaches and rivers, and installed checkpoints on the main avenues to guarantee travelers’ safety.

With tourism expectations exceeded over the long weekend, not only are Puerto Vallarta hotels expecting to reach at least 98% occupancy during the two-week-long Easter holiday period, but all tourism-related businesses are expecting intense days of work, so they are already preparing.

“The puente served as a test before the Easter vacation period, and we have to continue working together with the municipal government to guarantee optimal conditions for the many tourists that are coming to celebrate Semana Santa and Pascua here,” Quintero Alvarado added.
