Vidanta Vallarta to Host PGA Tour’s Mexico Open April 28 to May 1

Nuevo Vallarta, Mexico – The Mexico Open, first established in 1944 as the national golf championship of Mexico, is now on the PGA TOUR calendar as the Mexico Open at Vidanta. Set to be played from April 28 to May 1 on the Norman Signature Golf Course at Vidanta Nuevo Vallarta resort, the tournament will bring together 132 of the best golfers in the world to play for a purse of $7.3 million dollars and 500 FedEx Cup points.

Joining the PGA Tour for the first time, the Mexico Open at Vidanta, organized by Grupo Salinas, replaces the WGC-Mexico Championship event on the calendar, giving fans the chance to see some local talent face off against the stars of the PGA Tour.

Among the best positioned Mexicans in the world ranking are Abraham Ancer and Carlos Ortiz as well as Antonio Safa, Armando Favela, Carlos Ortiz, Cristóbal Islas, Manuel Inman, Isidro Benítez, Roberto Díaz and Santiago De la Fuente and confirmed international participants such as Jon Rahm, Gary Woodland, Tony Finau, Kevin Na, Justin Rose, Sebastián Muñoz, Camilo Villegas, and Mito Pereira.

With the Mexico Open at Vidanta, the PGA Tour tournament will call Vidanta Nuevo Vallarta home for the next three years, bringing a wealth of opportunities and tourism to our destination, by demonstrating the cultural, gastronomic and tourist wealth of the Banderas Bay area, in addition to the professionalism, hospitality and excellence that characterizes us as hosts of events of international stature.

The tournament will have a state-of-the-art Media Center, which will be equipped with the best connectivity and technology so that the more than 100 representatives of the national and international media can provide coverage.
