Puerto Vallarta, Jalisco, Mexico – Puerto Vallarta took another step toward environmental preservation with the successful cleanup of the Pitillal River. Hundreds of volunteers joined forces to remove nearly seven tons of waste, demonstrating a strong commitment to protecting the city’s natural beauty.
Led by Councilman Christian Omar Bravo Carbajal, president of the municipal commission of Free, Clean, and Certified Beaches, the initiative continues to gain momentum.
Several council members, including Víctor Bernal Vargas, Marcia Bañuelos, and Dalila Castañeda, participated in the effort, alongside municipal department directors and representatives from organizations such as the garbage collection company Red Ambiental and Red Rehabilita. Members of the National and Military Guard also contributed their support.
Over three hours, volunteers collected a wide variety of discarded items, including plastic bags, straws, clothing, shoes, and even living room furniture. This effort highlights the urgent need for increased public awareness and responsibility in keeping Puerto Vallarta’s natural spaces clean.
Councilman Bravo Carbajal emphasized the importance of community involvement in maintaining the city’s environment. While the municipal government, led by Mayor Luis Munguía, continues to invest in cleanliness and sustainability, public cooperation remains essential.
Residents are encouraged to respect and care for these shared spaces, reinforcing a collective commitment to environmental conservation. By working together, Puerto Vallarta moves closer to a cleaner, more sustainable future.
