What a Drag Raised Over 3 Million Pesos for Casa Esperanza

Puerto Vallarta, Mexico – The vibrant community of Puerto Vallarta rallied together once again on March 3rd, raising over 3 million pesos in support of the Casa Esperanza Women’s Shelter during the 10th annual What a Drag event. This incredible achievement marks the second consecutive year that the event has surpassed the 3-million-peso mark, demonstrating the unwavering commitment of the community to this vital cause.

The evening was a spectacle of glitz, glamour, and genuine generosity as individuals from all walks of life came together to stand against domestic violence. Through laughter and camaraderie, attendees showed their support for families in need and the courageous individuals fighting against domestic violence.

The Casa Esperanza Women’s Shelter has long been a beacon of hope for survivors, offering shelter, resources, and a sanctuary for those seeking refuge from abuse. The funds raised from “What A Drag” will be instrumental in furthering the shelter’s mission to empower survivors and provide them with the support they need to rebuild their lives.

“What a Drag” featured remarkable transformations as straight men stepped into mesmerizing drag personas, embodying the spirit of resilience and unity in the fight against domestic violence. These participants competed for the title of “Miss What A Drag,” showcasing grace, style, and humor, with Brandon Johnson as Miss Brandi Styles, crowned the winner for 2024.

Long after the excitement of What A Drag 2024 wanes, after the false eyelashes are removed and gowns put away, the importance of supporting the shelter remains steadfast. Individuals are encouraged to extend their support by becoming a GEM supporter, contributing a minimum of $10 per month. As a token of appreciation, GEM supporters will receive a stunning sterling silver pendant adorned with the logo of the shelter, symbolizing their commitment to creating a safer future for women and children affected by violence.

Through these modest monthly contributions, supporters become agents of change in the lives of those most in need, offering hope and empowerment to those who deserve it the most.
