10th Annual Puerto Vallarta College Challenge Set for Feb 11-14

Puerto Vallarta, Jalisco, México – The Puerto Vallarta College Challenge (PVCC) returns this February for its tenth edition, bringing elite U.S. college softball back to Mexico’s Pacific coast. Scheduled for February 11–14, the tournament will be played at Nancy Almaraz Field inside the Unidad Deportiva Agustín Flores Contreras, welcoming players and fans to four days of high-level competition under warm winter skies.

Since launching in 2015, the PVCC has grown into a respected early-season showcase, giving NCAA programs meaningful games before conference play begins. The 2026 field features Southern Illinois, Eastern Kentucky, UTSA, and Long Beach State, competing in a round-robin format that includes 10 games over four days. Each team will face multiple opponents, testing depth and preparation in an international setting.

Tournament founder and director Dave King says the event offers far more than wins and losses. He notes the excitement local youth feel watching college athletes compete and how the experience inspires young girls to pursue the sport. At the same time, many visiting players travel abroad for the first time. For some, it is their first passport and first international trip – an experience King says often leaves a lasting impact well beyond the softball field.

The competitive schedule begins Wednesday, February 11, with Southern Illinois taking on Eastern Kentucky at 11:00 am local time. Southern Illinois faces a demanding start with five games scheduled across the four-day window. UTSA also maintains a high-energy pace with multiple games on three consecutive days, including a notable doubleheader on Friday against both Eastern Kentucky and Long Beach State. The tournament concludes on Saturday, February 14, with a final morning showdown between Eastern Kentucky and Long Beach State.

To ensure a comfortable experience for the teams, the schedule is designed to allow players time to immerse themselves in the local culture. While some days feature doubleheaders, the itinerary provides enough flexibility for participants to enjoy the charm and hospitality for which Puerto Vallarta is known.

Fans attending the games in person can enjoy local refreshments from on-site vendors, while those unable to travel can stream the action live through the Triple Crown Sports Network.

Beyond the ballpark, Puerto Vallarta offers visitors a welcoming atmosphere, cultural attractions, and activities for all ages. With its reputation for safety and hospitality, the city continues to be an ideal host for international sporting events.

“We’re excited to welcome back the Puerto Vallarta College Challenge,” King said. “It’s become a tradition for softball fans, and we’re looking forward to another strong year of competition.”
