16 Scheduled Arrivals Kick Off Cruise Season in Puerto Vallarta

Puerto Vallarta, Mexico – This month, Puerto Vallarta’s high season for international tourist cruises begins with 16 scheduled ship arrivals, promising an exciting boost to the local economy. Among these, four are double arrivals, where two cruise ships dock on the same day. Notably, there is also a stay that spans two days without the ship spending the night.

According to the Puerto Vallarta National Port System, the season kicked off on Tuesday, October 1, with a double arrival of the Carnival Firenze and Navigator of the Seas. The Carnival Firenze remained in port until the evening, while the Navigator of the Seas completed a shorter stay. Today, Wednesday, October 2, will see the arrival of the Sapphire Princess.

Next week, two cruise ships are expected: the Nieuw Amsterdam on Monday, October 7, and the Carnival Firenze returning on Tuesday, October 8. From October 13 to 19, three ships will make their way to the port: Eurodam, Carnival Firenze, and Discovery Princess.

Double arrivals will resume on Sunday, October 20, when the Norwegian Encore and Ruby Princess dock together. The Norwegian Encore, a massive ship spanning 334 meters and carrying up to 4,000 passengers, is one of the largest vessels to visit Puerto Vallarta this season. Another double arrival is set for Tuesday, October 22, featuring the Carnival Firenze and Navigator of the Seas once again.

The final week of October will bring four more ships, including another double docking on Tuesday, October 29, with the Carnival Firenze and Koningsdam. The Koningsdam will depart at 1 am on Wednesday, October 30, making room for the Discovery Princess, which will arrive later that morning at 7 am.

As this season gains momentum, it’s important to note that last year’s schedule faced a few setbacks due to weather. Of the 15 planned cruise arrivals in October 2023, only 13 took place due to storm activity. A new cyclone is currently developing off the Mexican Pacific coast, raising some concerns for possible disruptions this year. However, with favorable conditions, Vallarta is poised for a successful cruise season, welcoming thousands of visitors to its beautiful shores.

This steady influx of ships underscores Puerto Vallarta’s role as a major destination in the global cruise industry, offering a warm welcome and unforgettable experiences to passengers from around the world.
