Puerto Vallarta, Jalisco, Mexico – In addition to Carnival, which has already formally announced its return to Puerto Vallarta in August, other cruise lines have announced their return to the Mexican Riviera this Fall, with itineraries that include stops in Los Cabos, Mazatlan and Puerto Vallarta.
In fact, five cruise lines have announced plans to resume operations on the Mexican Pacific – with strict health protocols in place, such as negative coronavirus tests, sanitary measures and other processes that guarantee the health safety of passengers and crew – including Carnival, Holland America, Princess, Norwegian and Ocean Victory.
The Carnival Panorama kicks the cruise season off with a 7-day cruise from Los Angeles on August 21, with stops in Los Cabos on the 23rd, Mazatlan on the 24th and Puerto Vallarta on the 25th, with a stay of 12 hours. These cruises will be offered on a regular basis through at least the end of October.
Holland America will also arrive in October with a new route operating with the Nieuw Amsterdam, the second largest ship in its fleet. This 21-day route from Seattle includes stops in San Diego, Puerto Vallarta, Fuerte Amador (Panama), Oranjestad (Aruba) and Half Moon Cay.
Other Holland America cruises that will be coming to Puerto Vallarta are Zuiderdam (which will operate 17 cruises from San Diego between September 18 and April 22) and the Koningsdam (which will operate 23 cruises from San Diego between October 10, 2021 and April 3, 2022 – fifteen of them with a stop in Mexico).
Up next is Princess Cruise Line’s Majestic Princess, which departs for Los Angeles on October 16 with stops in Cabo San Lucas on the 18, Mazatlan on the 19th, and Puerto Vallarta on the 20th. These 7-night Mexican Riviera cruises will be offered on a regular basis through April 2022.
Norwegian is also announcing cruises on this route starting October 24, with the huge Norwegian Bliss, which is also based in Los Angeles and would arrive in Puerto Vallarta on Wednesday the 27th for a nine-hour stay. These 7-night cruises will be offered on a regular basis through April 2022.
For 2022, the incursion of the Ocean Victory company is expected between April and October. This new 17-day route is called ‘Pacific Paradise’ and it will sail between San Diego, California and San Jose, Costa Rica, but with stops in Cabo San Lucas, La Paz, Puerto Vallarta, Manzanillo, Huatulco and Puerto Chiapas.
It should be noted that in all cases last minute changes cannot be ruled out due to the issue of compliance with Covid-19 prevention protocols.
