2022 Puerto Vallarta Chili Cook-Off

Puerto Vallarta, Mexico – 10th Annual! Can you believe it? The 10th Annual Puerto Vallarta Chili Cook-Off will be held on February 19, 2022. Please check out the first story below to learn about some of the improvements being planned.

If you’ve got a sure-fire-winning chili recipe or if you’ve ever referred to that pot of beans you make as “My Famous Chili,” then read the second story and learn how to enter the competition – and individuals are welcomed. You don’t have to be a bar or restaurant to enter your chili.

Do you like your jalapenos? Enjoy biting into a green or even a red one? How about a Serrano or do you dare a Habenero? You might be who we’re looking for. See the 3rd article on a fun new initiative we hope to bring to the next Chili Cook-Off.

About the 2022 Chili Cook-Off

The PV Chili Cook-Off Committee has decided to move the 2022 event to Puerto Magico, where our host, Dean Regehr, is determined to eliminate as much of the costly overhead as possible ensuring more revenue for the Jay Sadler Project A.C. to inject into the community over the following year.

As the world starts to get back to normal we see a huge wave of enthusiasm for the next Chili Cook-Off. The biggest change that the new facility allows will be over 400 hundred seats in the shade that you may reserve during the ticket purchasing process. There will also be an adjacent multi-level parking structure if you want to drive to the event.

New for 2022: Gold and VIP Packages will be available for the attendee that wants a bit extra (reserved seats; free food and drink tickets upon arrival – no waiting in line; a Chili Cook-Off Souvenir beer glass, and more). Our new online ticket sales outlet will be open soon. Meanwhile, stay up-to-date on the latest news on our website, or Facebook page.

We’re Looking for a Few Good Chili Chefs

There’s no entry fee to enter your chili, but you do have to make a lot of it – 5 gallons, at a minimum (we want your chili to last the day). In return, you’re going to get your own 10′ x 10′ space (canopy, table, chairs) and a chance to wow the hundreds of attendees as well as our panel of professional judges. Space is at a premium with only a few spots remaining.

For all the information you’ll need to enter, just click HERE and you’ll be able to download it. If you’d rather have the Spanish language version, then please click HERE.

The four-page document also includes a copy of the current floor plan so you can pick your space. That floor plan is also updated and available for download and better visibility at PV Chili Cook-Off Venue.

We’re Also Looking for a Few Brave Chili Eaters

A new addition to the Puerto Vallarta Chili Cook-Off next year will be the 1st Annual PV Chili Eating Contest. We’ll start you off with some Jalapenos and then move up the hotness scale (see the Scoville scale HERE) to Serranos and Habaneros and if we can get ahold of some Chocolate Habaneros or Ghost Peppers or Trinidad Scorpions we’ll throw those in as well.

And if the germination of my Carolina Reaper seedlings go according to plan, we’ll have the hottest pepper on the planet as the finale.

Hearty souls (with up-to-date health insurance) should contact me if they’re interested in entering the competition, please email Jim(at)PVChiliCookoff.com.

All for a Good Cause!

All proceeds from the Chili Cook-Off will go to The Jay Sadler Project, a Jalisco based non-profit doing good works in the less-fortunate communities of the greater Bay of Banderas area. They provide necessary resources to improve various institutions in the Banderas Bay area and Puerto Vallarta.

These include Day Care Centers, Senior Citizens Homes, and Schools for the Disabled, Public Schools in rural areas and other private charitable institutions. They also provide building maintenance, repairs and install playgrounds in the community.

JSP works with government social agencies to identify those in need as well as with DIF and Vallarta Navy League on Community Relations Projects. Fundraising events such as this help provide the necessary funds to continue their work. To learn more about the JSP’s community projects, visit JaySadlerProject.com.

Support Us Year-round at The Puerto Vallarta Chili Cook-Off Store

Our store was created to provide an income source for the Jay Sadler Project (JSP) in the months between our fund-raising events. The profit portion of every purchase goes to the JSP to help us continue our efforts to serve the under-served communities of the greater Puerto Vallarta area.

We have a variety of men’s and women’s clothing along with other branded merchandise for you to choose from. In addition, we’d love to hear your suggestions for other items we might add to the store.
