Puerto Vallarta, Jalisco, Mexico – The second edition of ‘Sabor en Competencia’, a cooking contest celebrating local culinary diversity and products from Puerto Vallarta’s municipal markets, took place last weekend at Parque Hidalgo.
Competitors, including Pedro Vicente Manuel of Mariscos Tino’s, Antonio Cabrera Saldaña of Tienda Grande, Pablo Flores Francisco of El Negrito, and Joany Rodríguez Razo of Universidad Vizcaya, showcased their culinary skills using ingredients sourced from the municipal markets.
A jury comprising chefs Pablo Antonio Díaz and Alejandra Aisury Delgado evaluated dishes based on flavor, presentation, and originality. Mariscos Tino’s clinched first place, followed by Universidad Vizcaya in second and Tienda Grande in third.
Acknowledging the pivotal role of municipal markets in promoting local culinary art, awards were presented to participating chefs.
Interim Mayor Francisco José Martínez Gil underscored the significance of honoring culinary diversity and encouraging exploration of flavors, cultures, and techniques. The event not only highlighted local cuisine but also featured a fusion of international flavors.
Christian Preciado Cázares, Director of Tourism and Economic Development, stressed the role of such events in promoting Puerto Vallarta’s attractions, particularly its renowned gastronomy.
Councilor Tania Selenne Maya Toscano graced the event, which showcased the best of local gastronomy and culinary talent in Puerto Vallarta.
Alongside the culinary competition, the event featured artistic and cultural presentations, as well as discussions on food and beverages.
