Puerto Vallarta, Jalisco, México – The 9th Annual Dama Juana Raicilla Festival concluded on Sunday, drawing a record-breaking crowd to Puerto Vallarta. From March 13 to 15, the esplanade of the Cuale Cultural Center served as a central hub where locals and tourists gathered to celebrate one of Jalisco’s most distinctive spirits.
Supported by the municipal administration and the Vallarta Institute of Culture, the three-day event successfully highlighted the deep heritage and artisanal craftsmanship that define the production of raicilla.
Festivalgoers explored the drink’s origins and production through guided tastings, educational tours, and demonstrations of traditional distillation techniques. The esplanade became a lively gathering place where visitors connected with the history and artistry that define this popular regional beverage.
This year’s turnout was so significant that several of the 25 participating raicilla brands reported selling out of their entire inventory – a first in the festival’s nine-year history. Notable producers such as Los 3 Hombres, Blue Scorpio, Alma Real, and La Perfección joined many others in showcasing the diversity of flavors emerging from different regions of the state.
Beyond the tastings, the Cuale Cultural Center transformed into a center for the arts, featuring a photography exhibit and demonstrations of traditional still-making. The schedule was packed with performances that honored Mexican heritage, including the skilled movements of Ballet Xiutla, pre-Hispanic dance rituals, and impressive rope-twirling displays. These cultural showcases ensured that the event offered something meaningful for every visitor.
Musical performances kept the energy high throughout the three-day weekend. Artists such as Mariachi Mi Ciudad, Dueto Machuca, Martín “El Auténtico,” Banda La Tierrona, and Reno, Reno entertained crowds, with Grupo Farra closing the festival on Sunday night alongside a fantastic fireworks display.
With its largest attendance to date, the festival underscored Puerto Vallarta’s ongoing commitment to preserving and promoting raicilla culture, honoring local producers while strengthening the region’s cultural identity.
