January 2023 News from PuRR Project Puerto Vallarta

Puerto Vallarta, Jalisco, Mexico – The latest news from PuRR Project, a non-profit, no-kill feline shelter located just north of Puerto Vallarta that provides homeless cats and kittens a recuperative stay with the ultimate goal of adopting them out to loving homes sterilized, vaccinated and disease free.

UPCOMING EVENTS: PUSSY CAT CONCERT

The Pussy Cat Concert is the only fundraiser planned for this season so we really need to make it a good one! It was Marilyn Khan’s idea so we are doing it in her memory. Join us at the El Rio BBQ on Sunday, March 5, between 2:00 – 6:00 pm. Tickets are only $500 pesos and will soon be available at Nacho Daddy, Cassandra Shaw or the Coffee Cup in the Marina, and at our Saturday table outside Daiquiri Dick’s. The Las Mambas will be onstage as well as guest performers like Amy Armstrong, and of course there will be raffles for prizes! So save the date on your PuRR 2023 Calendar and join us for a fun afternoon on the Rio Cuale.

SHELTER UPDATE

In 2022 the PuRR Shelter took in a record 264 felines, mostly young kittens, and 4 puppies! We were very grateful to have found Forever Homes for 80 kittens through PetCo and private adoptions. We also had 50 cats Virtually Adopted.

The additional cost to provide medical care and special food for these tiny ones is significant and we couldn’t do it without your help. With our 501(c)(3) Non-Profit status, tax exempt receipts for US dollar donations are available. For more information, visit PurrProject.com.

At least we were fortunate that earthquakes and storms caused no serious damage to repair this year!

FEATURED FELINE: PIRATE

Pirate currently resides in our Senior Center and he may have only one eye but he is not lacking in personality! He comes running to greet visitors and loves to be petted. He came to us last March after we agreed to help a young lady who had found a one-eyed kitty in the street and wanted help finding him a home. She had already had him neutered and taken to a vet to be checked out. Dra. Eva thought he was about 8 months old at the time. If you would like to give a Forever Home to Pirate or one of our other older kitties, contact Linda at adopt(at)purrproject.com.
