Xiutla Folkloric Ballet Fridays at Lázaro Cárdenas Park

Puerto Vallarta, Jalisco, Mexico – Puerto Vallarta’s beloved Xiutla Municipal Folkloric Group kicked off their 2024 season of free performances last Friday, January 12th, with a vibrant explosion of color and rhythm at Lázaro Cárdenas Park. The group, comprised of talented young performers, showcased a stunning array of colorful regional dances representing various states of Mexico.

This year marks a momentous milestone for Xiutla. Not only are they back to enchant audiences with their weekly performances, but they’re also celebrating 30 years of cultural ambassadorship. Born from the vision of Professor Enrique Barrios y Limón in 1994, Xiutla (meaning “place where grass grows” in Nahuatl) has blossomed into a Puerto Vallarta institution.

These dedicated dancers have proudly showcased Mexican traditions on stages across Latin America, the United States, Europe, and even Asia, earning a reputation for authenticity and excellence. And now, Puerto Vallarta residents and visitors can watch the magic unfold at Lázaro Cárdenas Park every Friday from 7:00-8:15 pm through March 22, 2024.

The performances, a fusion of skillful choreography and vibrant costumes, promise to transport audiences to the heart of Mexican folklore. Witness the hypnotic spins of Jalisco’s Son Jalisciense, the fiery footwork of Veracruz’s Zapateado, and the elegant grace of Guerrero’s Chilena. Each performance is a window into Mexico’s rich cultural tapestry, woven with the passion and dedication of Xiutla’s young artists.

As a testament to Xiutla’s commitment to community engagement, admission to these weekly performances is free – and the experience is priceless. Let Xiutla’s dancers sweep you away on a journey through Mexico’s vibrant soul, and celebrate 30 years of tradition taking root and flourishing in the heart of Puerto Vallarta.
