Puerto Vallarta, Mexico – The 34th annual Puerto Vallarta International Sports Classic is gearing up for another exciting weekend of competition, May 2nd through 5th.
This brainchild of Olympic basketball legend Howard Kelsey has become a Puerto Vallarta staple since 1990. It’s a chance for athletes of all ages and skill levels, from seasoned professionals to enthusiastic weekend warriors, to compete and connect.
This year, over 3,000 competitors from across North, Central, and South America will lace up their cleats, grab their rackets, or shoot some hoops in a variety of exhilarating events. Basketball, the heart and soul of the Classic, takes center stage alongside softball games, tennis matches, and high-energy soccer showdowns.
But that’s not all! Come out and cheer on the runners in the 5K recreational race, feel the rhythm at the aerobics competition, or witness the dazzling skills of professional beach volleyball players. There’s even a frisbee exhibition to add to the excitement.
The pulsating energy of the games isn’t confined to one location. While many events will be held at the Municipal Sports Stadium (across from the Sheraton Buganvilias Resort), the spirit of competition will spill out onto local beaches, gymnasiums and tennis courts.
But the most important participants are the people of Puerto Vallarta. Admission is free to all of the Classic’s sporting events – and everyone is invited to soak up the festive atmosphere, cheer on the athletes, and be part of this unforgettable Puerto Vallarta tradition.
