Puerto Vallarta, Mexico – As Puerto Vallarta prepares for the December holiday season, local authorities are enhancing security measures to ensure a safe and enjoyable experience for residents and visitors.
The holiday period, spanning from December 18 to January 8, will see a coordinated effort from municipal, state, and federal agencies, including the Ministry of National Defense, the Ministry of the Navy, State Police, Civil Protection, and Lifeguards.
Eduardo Horacio Llanas Cuevas, Commissioner of Citizen Security, highlighted the success of these collaborations, particularly the “White Christmas” operation, which focuses on monitoring beaches, tourist hotspots, and residential neighborhoods. He emphasized that police officers are dedicated to serving and protecting the community, encouraging citizens to trust their efforts.
Puerto Vallarta’s dedication to public safety has yielded impressive results. The city ranks first in Jalisco for perceived safety, according to the latest INEGI National Urban Public Safety Survey.
Compared to other cities in Jalisco, Puerto Vallarta’s safety ratings are exceptional. In Guadalajara, 75.2% of residents reported feeling insecure, while Tlaquepaque and Tlajomulco showed similar concerns, with 68.9% and 67.1% of their populations feeling unsafe, respectively.
Nationally, Puerto Vallarta is fifth among municipalities, following Garza García, Nuevo León; Benito Juárez in Mexico City; Tampico, Tamaulipas; and Piedras Negras, Coahuila. Notably, 79 percent of Puerto Vallarta residents feel secure in their city, reflecting a low perception of insecurity at just 21%.
These achievements solidify Puerto Vallarta’s reputation as one of the safest medium-sized cities in North America, ranking ninth overall.
With a focus on collaborative efforts and a proactive approach to public safety, the city continues to offer a welcoming and secure environment, ideal for holiday celebrations and year-round living.
