PV’s Río Cuale Market Shines After First Major Cleanup

Puerto Vallarta, Mexico – The Río Cuale Municipal Market has received its first deep cleaning, thanks to the joint efforts of local vendors, city staff, and over 100 volunteers. Together, they removed more than 350 kilos of waste, giving new life to one of Puerto Vallarta’s most cherished public spaces.

The initiative, led by Mayor Luis Munguía’s administration, is part of a wider plan to improve the city’s municipal markets. Along with cleaning the interior and exterior of the market, crews also trimmed vegetation and cleared debris along the nearby banks of the Cuale River.

This marks a major step forward for the market, which had never undergone such a thorough cleaning before. It follows similar efforts at six other city markets since October, with the Emiliano Zapata Market next on the list.

By investing in clean and welcoming spaces, the city continues to support local businesses, enhance the visitor experience, and build a stronger sense of community pride—all while boosting Puerto Vallarta’s reputation as a top-tier tourist destination.
