Guadalajara, Jalisco – Jalisco Governor Pablo Lemus announced a significant upgrade to Jalisco’s public transportation system on Monday, October 6, with the long-awaited arrival of new, modern buses in Guadalajara. This news is set to bring a major positive change to how people get around in Puerto Vallarta.
Governor Lemus confirmed that a total of 203 new bus units are being added across the state. The first delivery included 100 buses, with 67 units specifically earmarked for Puerto Vallarta. These brand-new vehicles are designed to significantly improve the daily travel experience for locals and the thousands of tourists who explore the area.
The 67 buses heading to Puerto Vallarta are a major step forward, offering modern conveniences that travelers expect. They operate on natural gas, which aligns with a greater commitment to environmental care. Passengers will also enjoy air conditioning and Wi-Fi access, making daily commutes more comfortable and connected.
Governor Lemus emphasized the importance of this shift, stating, “It’s very important that public transportation be decent, modern, and also coexist appropriately with environmental protection.”
In addition to the new natural gas units, an exciting step toward electric mobility is also underway for Puerto Vallarta. The governor reiterated plans to implement an electric transportation system along the main thoroughfare, Medina Ascencio Avenue.
This new system will feature 19 electric units and will connect the Las Juntas interchange, near the border with Nayarit, all the way to downtown Puerto Vallarta. This investment not only offers a silent, clean alternative for the popular hotel zone but also aims to make it even easier for international tourists to use public transportation to quickly reach the center of town, even from more distant accommodations.
The new buses will undergo a quick process of branding and final preparations once they reach Puerto Vallarta. They are expected to be on the streets and serving passengers within weeks, ushering in a new era of convenient, clean, and comfortable public transit for everyone in the city.
