Puerto Vallarta is preparing to roll out a major improvement to its public transportation system, as approximately 15 new buses have quietly arrived and are undergoing final adjustments before hitting local routes. The units, now parked near Rancho Alegre where UnibusPV maintains one of its main operating bases, mark the first visible step in a broader fleet renewal effort.
While the company has not issued a formal announcement, technicians are already installing fare boxes and performing mechanical inspections to ensure the buses are ready for service. These recent-model vehicles come equipped with factory air conditioning, upgraded suspension, and better accessibility features, promising a more comfortable ride for passengers.
The additions form part of a municipal strategy to replace aging buses, enhance frequency, and improve route coverage. According to unofficial reports in local media, Governor Pablo Lemus aims to present all 67 new buses promised earlier this year in a single event, highlighting the scale of the modernization plan.
Puerto Vallarta currently runs about 200 buses, 50 of which are relatively new. With this latest batch, the fleet is expected to grow to 267 units, expanding capacity and improving service efficiency across the city.
Sources suggest December 8 as the tentative date for the official launch. Once deployed, the new buses are anticipated to make daily commutes smoother for residents and tourists alike, signaling meaningful progress in the city’s ongoing transportation upgrade.
