Puerto Vallarta, Jalisco, Mexico – With the winter high season and Christmas holidays approaching, the Municipal Government led by Luis Munguía has strengthened waste collection services in the Romantic Zone to help keep the area clean, orderly, and welcoming.
To ensure residents and businesses were fully informed, city authorities carried out an outreach campaign ahead of the change. On Monday, December 15, and Tuesday, December 16, informational flyers were distributed throughout the neighborhood outlining the updated collection schedule and guidelines.
The enhanced service officially began on Wednesday, December 17. The effort is the result of coordinated work between City and Historic Center Management, the Citizen Participation Directorate, Efficient Services, waste collection concessionaire Red Ambiental, and the Emiliano Zapata Neighborhood Association.
According to City and Historic Center Manager, Jorge Durán, the new strategy increases the frequency of trash pickup to four times daily. Two daytime collections take place at 7:00 am and 1:00 pm, while two nighttime rounds are scheduled for 11:00 pm and 2:00 am.
Officials are asking residents to place trash outside no more than 30 minutes before the designated collection times to maintain cleanliness and prevent overflow. Authorities also reminded property owners of their responsibility to keep the area in front of their homes or businesses clean. Failure to follow these rules may result in penalties.
The Government of Puerto Vallarta reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining the Romantic Zone – one of the city’s most visited areas – in excellent condition for both residents and the many visitors arriving during the holiday season.
