Puerto Vallarta, Mexico – Animal lovers in Puerto Vallarta will once again have the opportunity to support homeless pets when Paws for the Cause: Rolling on the River returns this January. The annual fundraiser continues a charitable tradition that has helped local shelter animals for more than a decade.
The event is set for January 10, 2026, at La Huerta Bar & Grill, a relaxed riverside venue known for its open-air setting and live entertainment. Proceeds will benefit animals housed at the city’s municipally operated Centro de Acopio Animal.
Organized by Friends of Puerto Vallarta Animals, the fundraiser supports a volunteer-driven nonprofit founded in 2013. The group works closely with municipal authorities to improve conditions for dogs and cats arriving at the shelter abandoned, injured, or neglected. Their efforts help provide food, medical care, vaccinations, and spay-and-neuter services not always covered by public funding.
Over the years, Paws for the Cause has become one of the organization’s signature events, attracting residents and visitors who want to give back while enjoying a social evening. This year’s Rolling on the River theme will feature food, drinks, music, and raffles, with all proceeds directed toward shelter care and adoption programs.
Tickets are priced at $1,000 MXN and include a welcome drink along with live entertainment throughout the day, hosted by Alison Lo and Kevin Anthony. Tickets are available for cash only at La Huerta Bar & Grill, Cookie Star, Cassandra Shaw Jewelry, 3 Hens & a Rooster Market, and Dog & Cat. A $55 USD donation option is also available online via the Friends of Puerto Vallarta Animals website.
According to Friends of Puerto Vallarta Animals, funds raised through events like this help offset daily operating needs and allow volunteers to respond quickly to medical emergencies. The organization also plays an important role in promoting adoptions and educating the public about responsible pet ownership.
Supporters say events like Paws for the Cause highlight Puerto Vallarta’s enduring spirit of compassion, uniting the community around a shared goal of providing care, dignity, and new opportunities for the city’s most vulnerable animals.
