A Collaborative Vision: Puerto Vallarta’s New Development Plan

The Puerto Vallarta City Council has officially approved the Municipal Development and Governance Plan for 2024-2027. This comprehensive roadmap, hailed as a historic step toward a more inclusive and open government, is designed to enhance the quality of life for all residents. The plan is a testament to community involvement, shaped by the input of thousands of citizens from every corner of the municipality.

Municipal President Luis Munguía highlighted that the plan will serve as the guiding force for all public policies and resource allocation in the coming years. He emphasized that the document was the result of an extensive and collaborative process, incorporating feedback from assessments, surveys, neighborhood meetings, and forums with citizens, businesses, and academic leaders. This wide-ranging approach ensured that diverse voices, from Tebelchia to Boca de Tomatlán, were heard and integrated into the final document.

The plan is built on six key pillars, each with specific objectives and measurable indicators to ensure accountability and progress. These pillars are:

  • Smart Government and the Rule of Law
  • Community Building and a Culture of Participation
  • Sustainable Territory and City
  • Prosperity, Economic Development, and Tourism
  • Equity, Substantive Equality, and the City of Women
  • Security, Prevention, and Coexistence for Peace

One notable feature of this new plan is its dedication to transparency. Once it is published in the Municipal Gazette, the full document will be accessible on a digital platform for public review. This open-access approach will allow residents to track its implementation, monitor progress, and verify that government actions align with the goals developed alongside the community.

With the adoption of this plan, Puerto Vallarta is embracing a new era of governance – one built with and for its people, promising a more prosperous and equitable future for everyone.
