Art Exhibition Showcases Female Talent in Puerto Vallarta

Puerto Vallarta recently honored female artists with a special collective exhibition in recognition of International Women’s Day. Held on March 3 in the central courtyard of the Municipal Presidency, the event featured 24 talented women showcasing their paintings and sculptures. Organized by the municipal government with support from the Vallarta Institute of Culture, the exhibition invited reflection on the evolving role of women in Mexican society.

Councilwoman María Laurel Carillo Ventura, president of the Municipal Commission of Culture and Cultural Rights, emphasized the importance of cultural development as a tool for building a brighter future with more opportunities for women. She reinforced the local government’s commitment to creating more spaces that uplift female talent.

A key highlight of the evening was the presentation “Women of Mexico: Data and Statistics 2025” by researcher Astrid Pregel, MBA from Feminomics Inc. Her talk provided insight into the economic, security, political, and educational challenges women face in Mexico. The event also paid tribute to the late artist Gaby Vergara, celebrating her lasting impact on the local art scene.

Guadalupe Gómez Basulto, director of the Vallarta Institute of Culture, echoed the message of the United Nations’ theme for this year’s International Women’s Day: “For Women and Girls in All Their Diversity: Rights, Equality, and Empowerment.” She then presented official recognitions to the 24 participating artists, marking the event as a significant step in promoting women’s artistic contributions in Puerto Vallarta.

International Women’s Day, celebrated on March 8, honors the social, economic, cultural, and political achievements of women worldwide. It is a day to reflect, celebrate progress, and promote continued action toward gender equality. The recent exhibition in Puerto Vallarta not only showcased artistic talent but also reinforced the importance of creating opportunities for women to thrive in the cultural landscape.
