Ballet Xiutla Celebrated 31 Years with a Spectacular Show

Puerto Vallarta, Mexico – Ballet Xiutla recently marked its 31st anniversary with a spectacular dinner show at the Cuale Cultural Center, bringing together over 250 attendees for an evening of music, dance, and community spirit. The event, held last Thursday, not only celebrated the rich tradition of Puerto Vallarta’s municipal folklore group but also raised funds for an upcoming tour through Puebla, Veracruz, Tabasco, Campeche, and Yucatán.

Enrique Barrios Limón, founder and general director of Ballet Xiutla, expressed heartfelt gratitude to the audience for their support. He emphasized that the dedication of the young dancers is entirely voluntary and that all donations go toward costumes, travel expenses, and competition needs. Barrios Limón also encouraged children and young people to join the group and continue this important cultural legacy.

For more than three decades, Ballet Xiutla has trained generations of dancers, representing Puerto Vallarta with pride on national and international stages. The group’s name, derived from Nahuatl, means “place where the grass grows,” symbolizing the deep cultural roots it nurtures in the community.

The evening’s success was made possible with support from the local government, led by Mayor Luis Munguía, who remains committed to fostering cultural expression and recognizing local talent. Special acknowledgments were given to past and present officials who have contributed to securing rehearsal spaces, including those at DIF facilities.

The event featured captivating performances and a three-course dinner, thoughtfully prepared by teachers, students, and staff from CBTIS 68.

Ballet Xiutla’s 31st-anniversary celebration was a testament to the enduring passion for folkloric dance in Puerto Vallarta, reinforcing its role as a treasured artistic institution in the community.
