Puerto Vallarta, Mexico – Construction has begun on a two-month project to improve a section of Basilio Badillo Street in Puerto Vallarta’s Zona Romantica. The heavily traveled road will be closed between Insurgentes and Aguacate streets in Emiliano Zapata.
The project aims to enhance the area’s infrastructure by replacing the existing cobblestone street with a more durable mortar-based pavement. Additionally, upgrades will be made to the water and drainage lines, household connections, curbs, and sidewalks. The total project cost is estimated at $4,175,000 pesos, with Rodherick Palacios Bautista awarded the winning bid by the Vallarta City Council on February 26, 2024.
Detours and Bus Route Changes Due to Closure
Due to the closure, motorists traveling from the Mismaloya highway will be rerouted down Insurgentes to Venustiano Carranza. To accommodate the increased traffic, Venustiano Carranza will become a two-way street for the duration of the project. Drivers can then proceed up Aguacate to reconnect with Basilio Badillo.
Bus riders who normally use stops along the closed section of Basilio Badillo should be aware that their stops have been relocated to the corner of Basilio Badillo and Aguacate.
Motorists are advised to plan accordingly and expect delays due to the construction.
