Puerto Vallarta, Mexico – Boca de Tomatlán beach got a refresh this past Saturday, as locals and volunteers teamed up for a successful cleanup. Part of the “Clean Beaches” program, led by Councilman Christian Omar Bravo Carbajal, the effort removed roughly two tons of trash, proving what a community can achieve when it works together.
Councilman Bravo Carbajal, representing Mayor Luis Ernesto Munguía, provided the necessary tools, like rakes, bags, and shovels, to help volunteers tackle the job. The involvement of the Red Habilita rehabilitation center, through Ana Patricia Martínez García’s Escuadrón de Vida program, highlighted the campaign’s broad reach. José Guadalupe Barragán, head of Red Habilita, thanked the city for including his group, allowing them to make a real difference.
The Clean Beaches Program has seen significant progress, with over 100 tons of waste already cleared in previous sessions. Plus, Puerto Vallarta is close to having its first officially certified clean beach.
The event wrapped up with a renewed push for everyone to be more environmentally aware, stressing that lasting change comes from people, organizations, and the city working side by side.
