Brandon Broadwell Takes the What A Drag Stage as ‘Barbie Q’

Puerto Vallarta, Mexico – In the heartwarming spirit of this year’s What A Drag event, straight men are stepping into the limelight to transform into mesmerizing drag personas. This courageous endeavor, aimed at supporting the noble cause of Casa Esperanza Women’s Shelter, promises a night of glitz, glamour, and heartfelt generosity.

Brandon Broadwell Takes the What A Drag Stage as ‘Barbie Q’

This week, the spotlight is on Brandon Broadwell, a resident of Denver, CO, who, along with his wife, divides his time between Denver and Vallarta. Proudly sponsored by Kim Kieler Properties, Brandon is set to dazzle the audience under the guidance of his Fairy Drag Mother, Javier Martinez, the Show Director of What A Drag for eight remarkable years and is a popular hair stylist at the Thomas Simon Salon.

Overseeing Brandon’s hair, wardrobe, and makeup, ensuring a flawless transformation will be PoLy Muñoz Duran a celebrated PV hair and makeup artist that works at L’Oreal Salon at Plaza Caracol. The team will contribute their expertise to create Brandon’s fabulous drag persona, Barbie Q.

In an interview, Brandon shared his motivation for participating in What A Drag, stating, “My wife has asked me to do it for a couple of years now. When we had family over and they explained the reasoning and where the profits went, I decided it was a good cause and could be something fun to do outside of my comfort zone.”

Brandon and his wife’s connection to Vallarta stems from their involvement in “Feeding Pitillal’s Hungry,” a sister initiative to “Feeding Denver’s Hungry.” This deep-rooted connection adds a personal touch to his participation in the event.

“What A Drag” not only celebrates diversity and inclusivity but also serves as a crucial fundraising platform for the Casa Esperanza Women’s Shelter. All proceeds from the event will contribute to supporting women and children impacted by domestic violence.

The much-anticipated event is scheduled for Sunday, March 3, 2024, at Teatro Vallarta in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico, starting at 8:00 PM. Tickets, ranging from $850 to $2,250 Pesos, are available at whatadragpv.com and include access to an open bar.

As straight men make a powerful statement against domestic violence, the audience is invited to join in the celebration of courage, talent, and unity. The evening promises an extraordinary showcase of solidarity, humor, and support for families affected by domestic violence.
