Puerto Vallarta, Jalisco, México – The Federal Electricity Commission has announced a scheduled power outage for Thursday, March 19, in Puerto Vallarta as part of maintenance work to improve electrical service.
The interruption is linked to maintenance at the El Nogalito substation, a key facility that distributes electricity to the southern part of the city, including the hotel zone and nearby coastal communities. Work at this substation is intended to strengthen infrastructure and enhance service reliability in the area.
Power will be suspended from 8:00 am to 4:00 pm, affecting the southern hotel zone as well as Conchas Chinas, Mismaloya, Boca de Tomatlán, Quimixto, Las Ánimas, and Yelapa.
CFE noted that service may be restored earlier if maintenance is completed ahead of schedule. The agency emphasized that these planned outages are necessary to ensure long-term stability in the electricity supply.
Residents and businesses are encouraged to disconnect electronic devices to avoid damage from voltage fluctuations once power returns. Officials also recommend limiting refrigerator use and taking steps to preserve perishable food during the outage.
Should any persistent issues or irregular voltage levels occur after service is restored, the CFE encourages customers to report incidents immediately. The agency maintains a 24-hour service line at 071 to handle such reports and address any localized failures following the grid updates.
