Puerto Vallarta, Mexico – The Jewish community of Puerto Vallarta is once again preparing to light up the Bay with joy, generosity, and celebration as it marks Chanukah 2025, the Festival of Lights. This year’s festivities promise to be more expansive, more inclusive, and more meaningful than ever before.
Beginning Sunday, December 14, and continuing for all eight nights of Chanukah, free public celebrations will take place in different locations around the Bay, inviting residents and visitors alike to experience the warmth, pride, and spirit of the holiday. Each evening will feature lively entertainment, music, traditional games, and delicious Chanukah treats — all celebrating Jewish life, unity, and light in the heart of Puerto Vallarta.
The opening night celebration will be held at Parque Hidalgo, setting the tone for a week filled with joy and community connection. The festivities will conclude on Sunday, December 21, at Parque Lázaro Cárdenas (Tile Park) with the lighting of a volunteer-built “CanNorah” made from hundreds of donated food cans.

In the true spirit of Chanukah — light overcoming darkness — the celebrations are paired with a community-wide canned food collection, uniting condominiums, local businesses, and organizations in a shared mission of giving. Hundreds of cans will be collected throughout the city to support vital local nonprofits, including Vallarta Cares and Angel’s Kitchen, ensuring that the holiday’s impact extends far beyond the festivities themselves.
Angel’s Kitchen’s mission is to respond to the needs of Puerto Vallarta’s most vulnerable residents by nourishing both body and spirit, offering wholesome meals prepared and served with love — a philosophy that beautifully reflects the heart of the Chanukah season.
Vallarta Cares, a cornerstone of community support in the region, serves hundreds of meals each day while providing critical assistance to individuals and families facing food insecurity, making a tangible difference in lives across the city.

For Thanksgiving this year, Chabad of Puerto Vallarta kept to the theme of spreading light by expressing heartfelt appreciation to everyday local heroes — garbage collection workers, firefighters, and the dedicated staff of Casa Hogar, RISE, and other essential community organizations — delivering packages of freshly baked cookies as a sweet, personal “thank you.”
Through these initiatives, Chabad of Puerto Vallarta continues to strengthen bonds across cultures and faiths, demonstrating that Chanukah’s message of light, hope, and unity resonates far beyond the Jewish community.
Everyone is invited to take part — to celebrate, to give, and to help illuminate Puerto Vallarta with kindness and joy. This Chanukah, the light shines brighter than ever.
