Citizen Council Working Towards Historic Center Renovations

Puerto Vallarta, Jalisco, Mexico – The city of Puerto Vallarta has taken the first step toward revitalizing its historic center and the Emiliano Zapata neighborhood. This initiative marks a significant step towards enhancing the beauty and functionality of these popular tourist areas while carefully preserving their rich cultural heritage.

The first working meeting of the Puerto Vallarta Historic Center Citizen Council signaled the official launch of these efforts. Juan Pablo Martínez Torres, the City and Historic Center Manager, unveiled a series of infrastructure rehabilitation projects designed to revitalize public spaces.

The meeting, presided over by Engineer Jesús Palacios, president of the council, and Councilwoman Marcia Bañuelos, brought together influential leaders from the historic center’s business, restaurant, and hotel communities. Martínez Torres detailed several key projects currently in development. Among these are plans for the rehabilitation and ongoing maintenance of the Mirador de La Cruz, which offers breathtaking panoramic views.

Additionally, there are proposals for the rehabilitation and construction of stairs for the Rinconada on Abasolo Street, improving accessibility and flow. Finally, the iconic Los Muertos Pier is slated for maintenance, renovation, and enhanced lighting for its structure and furnishings, promising an even more welcoming experience for visitors and residents alike.

The proposed initiatives are now being prepared for submission to the technical committee of the Tourism Trust. This collaboration aims to secure the necessary funding in conjunction with the municipal government.

With strong citizen collaboration and the active involvement of various local sectors, the municipal government of Puerto Vallarta is committed to improving and beautifying the city’s historic heart, ensuring its unique essence and cultural value endure for generations to come.
